Gratitude Letter to the North Pole

Writing a letter to Father Christmas (Santa Claus) and telling him you would like for Christmas is a much loved festive tradition for children (and some adults) across the globe. My little sister would circle almost everything in various catalogs in hope Father Christmas would oblige. I can remember how exciting it was, thinking how my letter would be travelling all the way to the North Pole!

It’s nearly Christmas so letters must be written! Last week marked the fourth year since I replied to a message from an unknown sender, who later became my husband. I will be eternally grateful for that moment where something urged me to reply, and how life has changed since. We should never forget to be grateful, especially for the things we have now that once prayed for.

Since I don’t particularly want anything for Christmas this year, and gratitude is good for the soul. I decided to write a gratitude letter to Father Christmas, the symbol of Christmas magic…

20th December 2016

Dear Father Christmas,

When I think of Christmas, I think of communal kindness, family and the sparkle of joy in the eyes of children. 2016 is coming to an end, and it’s been my most revolutionary year yet. The year my family grew by ten fingers and ten toes, and I got to see the sparkle of joy in the eyes of my own precious child.

I’m so sincerely grateful for the love and support we have received from family, friends and anonymous well wishers.

I’m grateful for our continued health and the strength and endurance motherhood has bestowed on me.

I’m thankful for the internet, which united my husband and I four years ago and continues to offer an open window to our loved ones in England and across the world.

I’m grateful for the beautiful memories of Christmas past and exciting anticipation for Christmas future.

Merry Christmas,

Lauren

  1. Yes, gratitude is a true prayer to the cosmos to thank it for the blessings it showered on us. I feel of alchemy in my being when i express gratitude.

  2. I am a strong believer in the power of gratitude. This is a lovely idea and I will have to start doing this one myself. I keep a gratitude diary, but the idea of sending a letter to Santa is really awesome.

    Thanks for sharing
