It is really embarrassing bursting into tears at work all of the time! Everyday I wake up alone, eat my meals alone and come home to an empty flat. I have been working so much, my family and friends are far away and my husband even further. I think it is tough for anyone to move to a new city but it is especially when it is on your own. I cannot even pop on a train and see my husband! I’m quitting my job.
Finishing my training was important to me and I thought I could be strong enough to complete this year, but I’m not, I realise my health and happiness is much more important. It is so important to be happy and my current situation is causing me to spiral into such a deep depression. I do not enjoy my job at all and it’s making me really stressed, exhausted and low. I have plans to live in India and so qualifying as a pharmacist in the UK is simply not worth sacrificing my sanity anymore.
I’m quitting my job, packed my bags, applied for a new passport (after my water damage incidence) and will get a one-way ticket to India. I haven’t taken this decision lightly, I really feel that quitting is the best thing for me to do.
Being happy is the most important thing in life. 🙂

The beauty of education is that you can always come back to it later. I think you’re making a good choice. There is no reason to torture yourself and try and tough this out. Life is too short to be miserable.

living in India with a culturally hindu family is difficult for an person from alien(western) culture, you would have to change your western attitudes, lifestyle & feminist thinking.
There should be no issues if the family is completely westernized & then they will not want u to change & you could continue with your lifestyle.

I have already lived with my in-laws for some time and disagree with your comment. It is possible for two cultures to live and love together in harmony. I’m not naive to the fact it will take some work to find a balance though
I would like to point out that individuals are misogynists and the western world has it’s fair share of them too. Take care

I’m…..going to be a small voice of dissent here and voice my hesitation over you dropping your studies to move overseas to be with your husband. I understand better than most what the distance is like — I went through over a year of it with my husband myself. However this is a learning challenge for you and for him. Just like marriage takes fortitude and endurance so does distance — if you can prove to yourself that you can weather the distance you will have a stronger resolve in making your marriage the best it can be when the time comes to be together. Which is not to say that you don’t love him or don’t feel that way now, but it’s important to do the rational thing from time to time as adults. Sometimes it sucks, but it’s necessary to do and that is what makes us adults. Our ability to do the right thing even when it’s hard and less than pleasant.
Have you considered what this change in plans would mean for your family? For his? The timeline is 9 months right now; if you suddenly cut that short out of longing or emotion what will happen? Please do not rush into something because you miss him. Distance is hard. But if being together over a distance was easy everyone would do it. Please consider what impact it would have on him, his family, your family, and all of the things tied into that such as lodging and finances. It’s much, much more than an emotional impact. It’s far beyond that.
Finally; your education is so, so important and I really hope that you will consider finishing it and making the most of the opportunity that you have been given. I know that you may not want to hear this — especially from a stranger in cyberspace but… I really hope you see this through. You resolved to finish your education and I hope you do. You’re a strong person and if you put your mind to it you could do it. You have his support (and so many others) and before you know it it would be over. Please at least consider it.

Hi Shoshan,
Thank you for my comment! I have been considering leaving for around 2 months now and discussed it with my family. It was not a decision I took lightly. They all support me in this decision purely because they can see how unhappy I have become, even my hair is falling out.
This year is solely to practice as a pharmacist in the UK and as I am spending my life in India it was not 100% necessary. Originally I did want to become a fully qualified pharmacist because I am not one to give up on things and it was something to do when I come and visit the UK but during these 3 months I have discovered that a career as a pharmacist is not for me. It is a very stressful and I have to deal with conflict on a daily basis… something I absolutely hate. I have already gained my masters degree and I am really proud of that, it would have been good to do the training that goes with it but it is simply not worth it.
Thank you so much for your care in writing your comment
I hope you are well! Take care

Hi Lauren,
Advance wishes for your marriage as well as good luck with your future. You didn’t mention about the first meeting with your MIL ,about his family members and also about your future plans. I’m looking forward to those post.
And also convey my following message to your soul mate.
I BELIEVES IN KARMIC CONNECTIONS. AND THIS WILL NOT HAPPENS FOR EVERYBODY. YOU GOT THAT PRECIOUS GIFT. I’M NOT SAYING THIS BECAUSE SHE’S FROM OTHER PART OF THE WORLD. THIS FOR EVERYONE WHO GOT THOSE CHANCES.
SO NEVER EVER LET HER CRY AND STAND UP FOR HER WHENEVER THERE’S A NEED AND SUPPORT HER TILL YOUR LAST BREATH. FINALLY KEEPING IT SHORT AND SIMPLE NEVER DISAPPOINT HER. ADVANCE WISHES 🙂
